The Adventure Service provides fun short break weekends, full of outdoor adventure, for teenagers and adults with learning disabilities and extra support needs.
Our main aims of the Adult Short Breaks are to develop our Adventurers independent living skills and social skills. Our Day Service users plan the menu, resources and activities in the week leading up to the visit and all who attend are supported with tasks such as cleaning up and food preparation.
We provide multiple Adult Short Breaks a year with 8 running this year and at least 10 running next year. Each weekend runs from Friday evening until Sunday evening. Transport is provided from both day centres that are located in Mansfield Woodhouse and Top Valley, Nottingham.
Accommodation is dormitory style with camping in the summer months. Everyone who attends is supported to help with tasts such as food preparation and cleaning up.
Each Adult Short Break has an outdoor theme such as canoeing, caving, rock climbing, bushcraft, gorge scrambling and much more.
Our Adult Short Breaks are open to all adults with extra support needs, not just those who attend our Day Service. This provides an excellent opportunity to spend time with peers whilst also providing parents and carers with a weekend break.
