Changes to Disability Living Allowance now Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

Disability Living Allowance

A non taxable weekly benefit paid to people from birth to 65 who have attention or supervision needs because they have an illness or disability, or who have difficulty with their mobility.

Changes to Disability Living Allowance

From 10 June 2013 if you are aged between 16 and 64 you will no longer be able to make a first claim for Disability Allowance. You will need to claim the Personal Independence Payment instead.

If you currently have a Disability Living Allowance award you may be invited to claim Personal Independence Payments. Different groups of people are being invited at different times.

To discuss an existing claim please use one of the following telephone numbers:

  • if you were born on or before 8 April 1948: 0800 1214600
