SPRIING, is a community project for older adults in Gedling borough to help people find social activities to reduce their loneliness and isolation, which, in turn, aims to improve overall health and wellbeing. The project is designed to support individuals who are motivated and interested to ‘join in’ either through attending relevant groups and clubs or being involved in specific activities. The project is person-centred and focuses on individuals priorities and interests. Referrals can be made by health professionals or individuals themselves. On receiving the referral the individual will be contacted by one of the coordinators. There will be an initial consultation by phone to gather information and discuss the sorts of opportunities that are available such as physical activity, information on local support groups, social groups and more. The individuals will receive ongoing support from the coordinators. There is also a volunteering opportunity, in order to support individuals at events and activities. We are also looking for volunteers to support individuals in their chosen group or activity.
