Nottinghamshire Hospice - Hospice Night Support

Our Hospice Night Support service helps patients and carers who require urgent palliative care and support during the night.

The service is available seven nights a week, 52 weeks a year from 10.00 pm through to 7.00 am for adults living in Greater Nottinghamshire.

Our team will visit you during the night if you need:

• Personal care including mouth care, continence care, and pressure area care
• Help with moving and handling
• Prompting and assistance with medication
• Emotional support for you or your carer
• A short-term visit if you need someone to stay with you for a specific reason at a time of anxiety or emotional distress

What to expect from Hospice Night Support

The Hospice Night Support team will assess your needs and give you an estimated time of arrival, depending on where you are and our workload at the time. The service covers a large geographical area but we will always aim to get to you as quickly as possible.

Two experienced healthcare assistants will arrive together to support you and your carer’s needs. They will always wear a uniform and carry an identity badge. The visit could last from 30-90 minutes depending on your needs. They may arrange to come back later in the night if this is needed. You can also call to arrange a further visit if this becomes necessary later in the night.
