For adults with Hughes Syndrome (APS = antiphospholipid syndrome), throughout the UK. Hughes Syndrome is sometimes called sticky blood syndrome and is an autoimmune disorder. This is because people with it have an increased tendency to form clots in blood vessels (also known as thromboses). Any blood vessel can be affected including the veins and the arteries. Main symptoms and clinical problems: Headache or migraine , Clots e.g. deep vein thrombosis (DVT) , Strokes , Skin - cold circulation Memory loss, Seizures, can be misdiagnoses as MS - multiple sclerosis features such as pins & needles, visual disturbance, balance problems. Miscarriage: thought to be responsible for 1 in 5 recurrent (more than 3) miscarriages.
