CORONAVIRUS UPDATE BULLETIN – For Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Care Providers – Friday 8th January 2021

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE BULLETIN – For Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Care Providers – Friday 8th January 2021

Please note that this email will now be sent out twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Dear Providers, the information below contains current and up to date information from our strategic partners for you and your staff:

New and updated guidance and support, including information on funding:

Covid-19 vaccination programme – second dose of Covid-19 vaccine

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has recently recommended that as many people on the JCVI priority list as possible should be offered a first vaccine dose as the initial priority for the vaccination programme.

The 4 UK Chief Medical Officers agree with the JCVI that at this stage of the pandemic giving the first doses of vaccine to as many people on the priority list as possible will protect the greatest number of at risk people overall, in the shortest possible time.

This new guidance means that we need to reschedule planned second doses of the vaccine.  Please read information attached on how this may affect you.

Care Home Visiting Guidance

With the move to national lockdown, we would like to bring to your attention the changes in the guidance on visiting arrangements in care homes.

The attached letter from the Directors of Public Health for Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Councils confirms the current advice for care home visiting.

The latest government guidance for visits to care homes during coronavirus is available at:

The government guidance states that “Visits to care homes can take place with arrangements such as substantial screens, visiting pods, or behind windows. Close-contact indoor visits are not allowed. No visits will be permitted in the event of an outbreak.”

Existing guidance issued in December on visiting care homes during COVID-19 details how visits should be conducted. Residents cannot meet people indoors on a visit out (for example, to visit their relatives in the family home). There is separate guidance for those in supported living updated on 6 January 2021.
