Did you know October 1st is Older People's Day?
So why not get involved in 2017!
People are living longer and 23% of the UK will be aged 65 and over by 2035. Older People’s Day exists and aims to challenge negative attitudes and outdated stereotypes and focuses on celebrating the achievements and contributions that older people make to our society and the economy.
The Government and other supporting groups, under the “Full of Life” banner, have made UK Older People’s Day the focus of a wide programme of activity, celebrating later life. Numerous organisations are working together to coordinate a national programme of activities and events leading up to and around 1st October.
So, why not Get involved with UK Older People’s Day and help celebrate the achievements and contributions that older people make to our society.
Events will be taking place across Nottinghamshire!
This year the theme is ‘Active Ageing – It’s never too late to get up and go!’
Celebrations and activities will be held on, or around, 1st October to promote healthy life styles, give opportunities to combat loneliness, encourage volunteering and sharing skills with different generations.
Joining in UK Older People’s Day is a great way of building new relationships between people of all ages and will create a real buzz in your local community.
Nottinghamshire County Council are supporting Older Peoples Day 2017 and want to encourage
events across the County to take place themed around Active Ageing.
