Short Breaks Review

Nottinghamshire County Council Nottinghamshire Parent Carer Forum

The Review of Short Breaks in Nottinghamshire

Nottinghamshire County Council is undertaking a review of its short breaks offer for children and young people with disabilities, and their parents and carers.  To ensure that the revised short breaks offer best meets the needs of families, we will be co-producing with children and young people with disabilities, their parents and carers.

Working with the Nottinghamshire Parent Carer Forum, the review will need to consider a range of options to ensure the revised short breaks offer meets the needs of the most vulnerable children and young people, and is sustainable going forward.

In addition, families have been telling us for some time that the current offer is too complicated to understand and access. The review will therefore also provide the opportunity to help design a more user friendly offer.

It is really important that we hear your views, and there a number of ways for you to do this:

1.  Short Breaks Review – Parent / Carer Questionnaire – please follow this link to a short questionnaire about short breaks.  The information provide will help to inform the revised Short Breaks offer.  For those completing the questionnaire there is the chance to win one of 3 £25 vouchers.

2.  Short Breaks Review Events for families – we are organising a number of events with families over the summer.  Details of the main events are provided below.  Please complete and return the invitation form if you would like to attend.  These events are designed to involve families and refreshments will be provided.

What are Short Breaks?

Short Breaks provide opportunities for disabled children and young people to spend time away from their primary carers and take part in activities, as well as, providing time for parents and carers to rest or to do other activities they value.
