Adult Social Care and Health Carers Consultation

We have already planned or delivered £100m savings to our Adult Social Care and Health budget between 2011/12 and 2019/20. However, we still face significant savings challenges and the difference between our funding and what we need is £68m. In order to identify ways to provide services more efficiently and help manage the Council’s budget pressures, we undertake regular service reviews to consider the way in which social care and support is provided to adult service users in Nottinghamshire.

We are considering making changes to improve how informal carers are provided with their own specific support services and personal budgets. At the moment, most carers who are eligible for support may be offered a fixed payment of £150 or £200, while a small number may be offered a higher payment to meet specific needs.

We are considering a new, more personalised approach to supporting carers. Carers who are eligible for support would be offered a range of support options. This could include an offer of support services and/or a direct payment. Any direct payment would be assessed individually for each carer to meet their specific needs. Carers would not always receive the same amount each year. The amount they received would depend on the level of need. Alongside these changes, we are also considering further investment to improve information, advice and support services for carers.

Please take a few minutes to complete this questionnaire about some changes we are proposing to make.

Your views are important to us and will help councillors to make decisions about future policy. The closing date is 5pm on Tuesday 5 December 2017 and the results will be taken to Adult Social Care and Public Health Committee on 8 January 2018 for a decision.
