Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) - Important Information and Documents

The summer months are known as the “cutting season.” This is a time when women and young girls are considered to be at greater risk of undergoing FGM as the extended summer break allows more healing time thus reducing the risk of detection by professionals. FGM affects girls of all ages, however, in half of the countries where FGM is practiced the majority were cut under the age of 5.

Please see the documents on the right hand side of the page to find out more about this practice and how to prevent it in Nottinghamshire.
