Bathing and washing your baby
If you have any questions or concerns about bathing and washing your baby speak to your community Health Visitor or contact your local Children's Centre.
"You can bath your baby from the start if you want, and if your baby doesn't object. It's fine to submerge her umbilical cord stump, or the area that's still healing once it's dropped off, although a good idea to dry it gently and carefully afterwards, which will help protect against infection.
Lots of parents invest in a baby bath. If you do, look for one that comes with a stand, or can be fitted over a normal bath, for the sake of your back. Baby baths tend to be quickly outgrown though and some feel they're a waste of money - you may find your baby's happy in the big bath from the start, in a large washing up bowl, or even the sink, with the taps carefully covered. There are also a variety of products available designed to support your baby." (Information taken from Netmums)
